Migrating from Z2M to ZHA – ZHA doesn't find ANY Philips Hue bulbs

I have a lot of Hue bulbs and want to use them with ZHA in my Home Assistant installation which runs natively (HAOS) on an Intel NUC.

I have a Sonoff Zigbee Stick (the Plus v2 Model -E), a ConBee II and the new SkyConnect – with none of those ZHA finds my Hue bulbs. I use the sticks on a long USB cable.

I used to use Mosquitto and Zigbee2MQTT before but it became more and more unstable and refused to work at all (with any of those sticks) lately.

So I deactivated Z2M and Mosquitto (but did not yet uninstall these add-ons).

I rebooted so many times and removed and re-added the ZHA integration so many times and tried so many times to add the Hue bulbs – to no avail. Nothing happens at all in the ZHA log after a fresh re-add of the ZHA integration and configuring a coordinator.
Other devices (like IKEA bulbs, Sonoff sensors) add fine.

I still own an old Philips Hue bridge and still have the app installed on my iPhone but when I tried to see the bulbs in the app to reset them they don’t appear and they don’t get found either. Even not when entering their serial number and scan again.
The Philips Hue bulbs did appear and worked “fine” (mostly) when I used Z2M (but some dropped out of the Zigbee network every now and then).

I guess the Hue bulbs don’t appear when scanning with ZHA because they’re not factory-reset – could the be the case? So the question is: how to reset Hue bulbs? Without having an Alexa and without having to flash the firmware of my Sonoff Zigbee stick? I shortly re-activated Z2M (using the Sonoff stick) to see if the Touchlink feature might work – it didn’t (I assume because of the firmware on the Sonoff stick).

Is Hue Thief my last chance? Any thoughts / help / ideas? :flushed:

So you’re saying I’m right and the problem is that my Hue bulbs aren’t factory-reset?

Okay.
Option 1, Touchlink – Not working for me because I don’t have a USB Dongle with an appropriate firmware.
Option 2, Hue Bridge – Not an option because the bulbs are no longer configured with that bridge / in the Hue app.
Option 3, Hue Dimmer Switch – Not an option, don’t have one, won’t buy one just to reset the bulbs.
Option 4, Bluetooth – Not an option, my Hue bulbs are mostly very old and none has Bluetooth.
Option 5, Trådfri Remote Control – Not an option, don’t have one.

#sigh :disappointed:

Second hand hue dimmer switch from ebay can’t cost too much can it?

Reviewing the list, hue thief looks a good option :frowning:

Interesting. Here in Germany I can only find the Philips dimmer switch with model number 324131137411 to buy second hand. Neither the model number 324131092621 (that is referenced in the linked zigbee2mqtt page) nor the model number 929002398602 (which doesn’t work for factory-resetting bulbs?) are available as far as I have seen.

Does anyone know if the dimmer switch 324131137411 is able to reset Hue bulbs, too? :flushed:

Update: I was able to get the one and only and last Philips Hue Dimmer Switch model no. 9290023986 and can confirm that the factory reset works with this switch model, too!
Case (hopefully) closed. Will reset all my Hue bulbs now …

How did you do it? Did you pair it with the bulbs or just hold the two buttons next to it?

Does it reset all your bulbs or only the one nearby?

Are there other buttons that can reset Philips Hue bulbs? I saw that an IKEA one could do it, but that model is long gone. I have a bunch of newer IKEA buttons though.
