Migration to Zigbee with HA Zigbee SkyConnect

Hi All,

Im thinking to move from Z-Wave to Zigbee with my modules around the house.
Also because of the Philips Hue Account requirement issue that’s going on.

Can someone tell me if below products are good and they will work with the ZHA Integration in combination with the HA Zigbee SkyConnect?

12 x Xiaomi Zigbee Smart EU - link to Aliexpress.com
4 x Sonoff SNZB-04 Zigbee Door - link to Aliexpress.com
4 x Sonoff SNZB-04 Zigbee Door - link to Aliexpress.com
8 x Sonoff SNZB-02P Zigbee Temp-Hum - link to Aliexpress.com
8 x Sonoff SNZB-03 - Zigbee motion - link to Aliexpress.com

Want this all to work flawlessly?

My current Z-Wave door sensors send information about:

  • Door open/close
  • Battery %
  • Low battery
  • If cover is removed (not really needed)

My current Z-Wave smart plugs send information about:

  • A, kWh, V, and W states
  • is plug on or off (can control it from HA also)

My current Z-Wave motion sensors send information about:

  • motion detected
  • Battery %
  • Low battery
  • Air temperature ( I didn’t find a zigbee motion with temp included )
  • Illuminance level ( I didn’t find a signee motion with Illuminance included )
  • Humidity levels ( I didn’t find a signee motion with Illuminance included )

That’s why the 8 Sonoff SNZB-02P for temperature and humidity. Didn’t find a zigbee module that also include the Illuminance levels. Thats sad, now have more modules sticked on the ceiling

If someone have some advise of modules that combine motion, temperature, Illuminance and Humidity let me know.

A lot if folks use them, but I was never happy with any Sonoff battery device.

any other suggestions?

Hue motion sensors have temperature and illuminance sensors. Expensive, though.

and Philips Huu motion is full working in ZHA?

There was an issue with SML001 (the older model) and SML002. They would disconnect repeatedly and could be hard to pair with the network again because they were trying to reconnect as new devices. There is a simple fix for this problem here which I added several months ago - problem free since. Fully working with ZHA.

I also like the hue motion for timeout, sensitivity settings and battery life, but I have a mix of Hue, Third Reality, Aqara, and Tuya. The Tuya units very rarely get stuck on occupancy detected, but clear up as soon as new motion is detected.

For doors I use Aqara, I have a mix of MCCGQ11LM and MCCGQ14LM. I prefer the newer MCCGQ14LM. The older “11” does expose a temperature entity in z2m(don’t know about zha), but it is the mcu temp, not ambient temp. Still it can be useful as it will generally track with ambient.

I use Aqara temp/humidity sensors, but the Sonoff you link is a newer model than I tested, so can’t really comment on that Sonoff unit.

I recommend buying single test units of devices somewhere you have easy return options. The ones you don’t like, return. Then buy the ones you like in bulk from the outlet with best cost.

Can I ask why you are moving from Z-Wave to Zigbee when you already have Z-wave devices? There’s no reason you cannot run both.

because also of the issues with Philips Hue (they want you to have a account and its unknown of the API will still active later on)

Then I have to move the bulbs to Zigbee. And then I have 2 systems in house: Zigbee and Z-Wave. Then replace everything and use 1 system.

I see. Seems unnecessary to replace Z-Wave devices though. You could keep your Z-wave devices and replace your Hue bridge with Skyconnect, saves you buying a lot of new devices. Z-wave and Zigbee can run fine together in the same house.

So no interference. That sounds the best solution then!

Correct, Z-Wave and Zigbee runs on different frequencies.
