Mikrotik hAP be³ Media as home assistant host

Hello
MikroTik recently announced a very interesting hybrid router MikroTik · hAP be³ Media

It features:

  • Tri-band WIFI 7
  • 2.5Gbit switch
  • Thread radio
  • Bluetooth 5.4
  • Matter
  • Container support
  • Special compartment for zigbee radio / storage etc
  • MicroSD storage expansion

All that for 179$

It's not yet on sale but I intend to buy it specifically for home assistant / home router use
Does anyone here have experience in running home assistant in mikrotik containers? Because this hardware is perfect for it

It's my first post so if my category choice is wrong please let me know
I couldn't find any info on the subject and the router is still very new

Thats a nice all in one solution and its very tempting with all its ports being 2.5GbE.

Though that price is gonna be higher here in Australia should I want to get one lol.

That got your hopes absolutely stratospheric, didn't it?

Operating System: RouterOS v7
Size of RAM: 2 GB

I see it may have issues as somewhat underpowered right out of the box if you also want to run a HomeAssistant server simultaneously inside the same box. That 2Gb is overall, not available I suspect and you will bump against memory limitations as you add apps and integrations.

Keep looking. This is a sign of where router technology has to go to keep up with the times. As a router, paired with a separate HomeAssistant box, it could tick a lot of boxes for you.
