Mimoodz Smart WiFi socket

Just thought I would let folks know of a currently relatively cheap option for a WiFi smart socket. The mimoodz smart socket is currently available on Amazon for $5.95. The socket I received has a UL sticker on the back of the socket. The socket is rated at 10A.

There is an app available but since the socket contains an ESP-12F chip it can be flashed with Tasmota. That is what I did. There is some soldering involved but it is not that bad. Take a look at the following page on the tasmota wiki which covers what you need to do:

Take a look at some of @digiblur’s recent videos if you have a question about the type of soldering involved.

So far the socket is working well. Not bad at all for basically $6.
