Mini Split WiFI Remotes and Home Assistant

I am hoping to find someone who can tell me if there is a Mini Split with auto changeover (can provide heat and A/C ) wifi controller that will be compatible with Home Assistant. I have looked at HoneyWell D6 Pro, Cielo, and Mysa units, but none are listed here as integrations, I will soon have Honeywell wifi zoned boiler controls on that system, but need to control the 4 Mini Splits in my house in conjunction with the zoned boiler depending on outside temp and other conditions in each zone. I am a developer and Enterprise IT Architect, so if there is an API or something, I can code it, but need to know the possible solutions adTHANKSvance for any help or guidance on how this might be possible.

I’ve been looking for a potential solution myself for 4 months now, and so far, there is nothing.

I’m about to start exploring the way of proxy. Maybe using homekit for it and then integrating from homekit to HASS.

According to their site, the closet we are to making it compatible with HASS is that it’s now compatible with SmartThings, but I don’t have a SmartThings hub (nor do I want one), and it doesn’t say anything about HomeKit.

Do you think maybe there is a way of pulling the code for SmartThings and picking up from there to mod it to HASS?

I actually just opened a ticket with Cielo support to see if they are willing to help us here.

I’ll come back and update as soon as I hear from them. In my past experience, they are pretty quick to respond (24 to 48 hours). Could be a bit longer because of the holidays.

I’m looking I to this as well. Has anyone looked at the sensibo air? They have an official Hass integration.

I have 2 Mr Cool units that work well with Smartthings. I set up the Smartthings / HA integration while I moved my devices all over to HA. The Mr Cool units only allowed you to power them on or off from HA, and would show you setpoints and temps, but they didn’t allow you to change anything. I’ve been playing with the SmartCeilo integration on HomeBridge in an attempt to pull it into HA, but only having luck reading the data, not changing data with HomeBridge. Plus it only allows you to see one unit. I have been hoping to see someone get the integration going before I start to figure out the ESP route.

I’m looking into getting some Cielo Breeze devices too.
I have some Chilltrix AC units, and I know from Chilltrix that they are supported by Cielo.
I tried a Sensibo last year, as I know it supports HA integration. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the Sensibo to work with my AC… after trying over 3 months with their support and development Sensibo gave up and gave me a refund.
So Cielo seems my only solution to make my AC more intelligent. But I don’t know if I want to invest into that without HA support.

It integrates with SmartThings which I happen to have. I might try connecting it to SmartThings and then doing the SmartThings integration with HA. That should work correct?

Okay I gave this a go. I was able to add the Cileo Breeze Eco thermostat to SmartThings and connect SmartThings to HA. The device doesnt show up as a thermostat however. It does have the following sensors:

So, I am guessing I could make a custom thermostat card using the switch and sensors. I need to look into that more.

I have Sensibo working right now And the climate integration works great. but unfortunately the data has to be sent over the internet to Sensibo server in order for it to work. It just wouldn’t work locally. I’m also looking for an off the grid solution. Some other guy tried to hack an ir transmitter to do this. But that just seems too much effort.

If your existing mini splits have IR remotes, then broadlink mini + the smartir custom component are a good solution.

The biggest downside is that manually using the remote is NOT in sync with HA. Sensibo, in theory, handles this with correct placement if the sensibo IR device, but the HA integration is via cloud.

Hey i reverse engineering Cielo Home (https://home.cielowigle.com/) and i made a HACS integration. Work pretty well. Give me your thought

Have fun!

Thank you for doing this. I will be installing later and test.
I was wondering on the Celio Wifi Controler you can turn off the LED Temperature light on the mini split. In the documentation I do not see the ability to control this. Is that not an option yet?

Yes, i will integrate it when i have more time! But in my Cielo app i have a button to turn on and off the light. But i don’t have the state of the light is on or off. Not so clean, so i HA i can add a button to do that but you can’t see the state of light in HA. Cielo appear to not support that state or is my HVAC. i have no idea. I will check if there any other way… @justin450

@justin450 the version 1.4.1 support the light!

Awesome, I will update to 1.4.1
Everything besides the light did work for me on the previous version. Thanks again!

Thank you @bodyscape for building this integration! Super useful. I am facing couple of issues while trying to use it

  1. It doesn’t seem like HA is reflecting the changes to the AC state which are happening outside it’s knowledge. e.g. if I use the remote control to turn the AC off or on, it doesn’t reflect on the device state as visible on HA
  2. My AC and remote, both have LED switch on/off support, but it’s not showing up on my HA device

Could you please help me debug? Also, I have just started using HA a few days back. Still learning the basics

@homefun my integration don’t support the state for the LED switch. Did you try to change settings with the mobile app of Cielo Home? Everything work great for me when i change setting with the remote or the mobile app.

I’m assuming this still requires the cielo device to be connected to the internet?

Have any of you considered this: Tuya Wifi Smart Thermostat Universal AC Remote Control LCD Screen Voice Control | eBay

Is an Wifi IR Controller. I do have a similar one, but the Tuya integration only sees it, does not know how to control use it.

I was thinking about going this route:
