Hello
What are the minimum hardware requirements to run HA with zigbee and zwave ? (I mean the soc, RAM …)
thanks
Everything equally powered or higher powered than a Pi3 will do for these basic requirements.
As soon as you have multiple camera streams, AI stuff or other power expensive tasks you need more.
I would like to recomment
- Raspberry Pi 4 with 4 GB RAM or more
- Conbee II Stick für Zigbee
- And in the long run a small SSD Drive (128 GB) instead a SSD card with a good USB3 - SATA Adapter
The drive is for much better reliability compared to a card. Not because of storage memory.
USB Extension cable for the Conbee II to move it away from USB3 components.
Although I didn’t run zigbee or zwave, I happily ran HA Core (Python virtualenv) on a Banana Pi M1 with HDD for over a year before moving to my current NAS solution — and I also ran Plex, Pi-Hole and a home-grown CCTV 24/7 recording system on it at the same time. That’s probably comparable to a RPi 2B in terms of power, although it has gigabit Ethernet and SATA not running on the USB bus, which helps.
That is actually close to my setup:
- RPI4B 4GB
- Raspee II add-on module (instead of Conbee II USB Stick)
- “Endurance” SD Card
I run Raspbian OS, HA Container, Mosquitto, Zigbee2MQTT and Watchtower orchestrated by Docker Compose.
