Over the past couple of years I have added four of these remote scene controllers to HA. After I had them working and doing a great job, an update of zwave.js ui, made them all stop working. This was related to them all being put to “sleep”. I was able to fix this by switching my z-wave network to the official z-wave integration. Instantly they all came back to life.
Since then, I have added two more as “light switches” in a bathroom and also one of the bedrooms. The bathroom controller has automations that toggle the lights over the vanities, toggle the can lights, and toggle the exhaust fan. Each has a Shelly relay that is used to control the on/off.
Now after a year, I have lost the ability to use them again - for the same reason. They are now all showing as in “Sleep” mode. To turn them on, you are told to press the 3rd button 5 times. This should wake the remote and then you can use it, UNTIL IT GOES TO SLEEP AGAIN. Well, the default wake time is 250ms, according to the documentation. Which means I don’t have time to press anything else before the goes back to sleep.
I have had some of these remotes for over a year and use them every day, multiple times a day and they all show almost a completely full battery. Even if they didn’t I would gladly replace them as often as needed, just in order to use them. What good is a device that goes to sleep constantly preventing you from using it?
Does anyone know how I can keep them awake? Or do just need to replace them all with one fo the zigbee remotes that I now see.
