I’m trying to open the VMDK in VMWare workstation in Windows, but the VM workstation needs a VMX file. This file seems to be missing in the downloaded zip file. Can someone help me with this?
I also tried to map a drive letter to the VMDK, but this doesn’t seem to help me.
How does this relate to Home Assistant?
The VMDK is an image for the home assistant operating system which can be downloaded from the home assistant website (under getting started: installation: Windows).

read and follow procedure for windows installation. VMX file is within the archive.
No, it is not. In the Zip file there is only the vmdk. Is there a way to upload it to me?
Isn’t the VMX file created when you follow steps 1-10 from the instructions and has all the settings you have applied?
Ah, i didn’t notice the links to the steps. Now i tried the steps to VMWARE, but this did not work out for me. Eventuallty it said: no operating system. Then i tried the Hyper-V setup and this i got working. Thanks.
