Mobile app outside of network slow to respond

Hey all. I’m having some issues using the mobile app when outside of my network. It logs in just fine but trying to open the history or turn lights on or off or lock/unlock the door takes a very long time. Also updating the icon to reflect its new status also takes forever. I am using Nabu Casa. I also have a PFSense firewall with multiple VLANs. The mobile app works great when on local LAN WiFi but terrible when outside of network. Is there a network guide for HA that I can poke through? Any suggestions from the forum? I’m not a network guy at all. So please be gentle with any network explanations.

Not really specific to being outside the local network, but anytime I experience slowness in the app, a force close and clearing the cache (but not data) has always fixed it.
