I have a bunch of Moes BRT-100-TRV a few of which randomly stop responding to any commands sent either via Node-Red or HA directly. I can always read from the devices though.
I’ve been through all of the first-line issues with the help of this forum and have made any changes that could possibly be causing the issue, without success.
Checked WiFI channels, coordinator (ZZH) etc. and in any event the other 30 odd Zigbee devices on my network work as expected.
The only work around I have so far is to drop the batteries from the offending unit and power it back on. This always cures the issue and the unit will instantly return to normal operation. Ive written a Node-Red flow to alert me when a unit is failing to respond but it’s not ideal.
So I’m pretty certain the issue is with the TRV’s themselves. If that is the case then it would be good if I could go back to Moes for assistance - which I know I probably can’t as we in the HA community accept we are near the cutting edge of Home Automation. I’m aware there were some quirks posted for ZHA which addressed similar types of issue but am not aware of anything for Z2M ?
Does anyone know of any second or third line support that might be able to help me ?
Dig deep colleagues !
I have 11 of them and occasionally one will run silent for a while before coming back. I just need to re-pair if I get a persistent drop-out - not needed to reinsert the batteries. I put it down to temporarily patchy zigbee mesh coverage. I now have 3 sonoff 3.0 dongles which is sufficient 99% of the time. Previously i used cc2531s and got lots of drop-out outs with those. The TRVs that go AWOL are in the furthest corners of the house in ‘noisy’ areas. My experience makes me suggest that you look here first rather than the valves, themselves.
I doubt that there is any support outside this community but I’ve never really looked.
Thanks for the input. I’ve tried to ensure the mesh is solid and have sited routers within 2M of any problem device without any improvement. I also ditched my CC2531s in favour of a ZZH (CC2652R) but I didn’t see any improvement there either.
I’m interested in your 3 x Sonoff dongles - How are you running 3 of them ? (I have always thought you can only have 1 coordinator in circuit unless you are running them as separate Zigbee networks ? or will they run as routers ? -if so how do you go about it ?
Thanks
I use this Serial Boot Loader to flash the router version of the stack. So, I have one coordinator and two routers, plus some other smart plugs which act as routers too. It’s tricky to set up as you really need a Linux system with a USB com port. In my case it’s vmware workstation.
