Moes Star Ring dimmers - possible to override power off dimming effect?

As I saw someone else note, one annoying feature of these switches is the power-off dimming effect, which seems to increase linearly with the current brightness.

i.e. if the lights are already quite dim, turning them off causes them to dim to 0 over maybe a second. But at full brightness, it takes over 6 seconds for the lights to finish turning off! it’s so slow at first it makes you think you haven’t even toggled the power the first time you press the switch.

Did you get anywhere with this one?

I did not - I contacted their support and received this response:

It takes time for the dimmer switch to turn off when fully lit.
This is the design of the product and cannot be modified.

I’ve gone through a few switches and have finally settled on the Legrand with Netatmo line (Legrand Valena Life in Germany) - they sync up to HA via z2m no problem, are able to be turned on to a specific level with no flickering (i.e. can have HA listen for power on and set a default brightness without the lights flashing to their previous level first), and the switches are modular so can be easily mounted in 2/3/etc gang setups with other Legrand components.

Hi! Is anyone satisfied with this product? Waiting for 6 seconds to turnoff and few seconds to turn on is very strange. Otherwise great product, but this is almost unusable.

@zgbee Can you send me link what did you buy? Guess it is for EU?

Sorry about the late reply. I did buy for EU, yeah. The switch I finally decided on (after trying at least 4) is made by French company Legrand - they seem to sell the same physical switch with different aesthetic/frame shape through the EU. I found the device listed on the MQTT site here: Legrand 067771 control via MQTT | Zigbee2MQTT

And in Germany, they seem to mostly sell the Valena Life with Netatmo model. I didn’t buy from Amazon, but here’s the same dimmer switch: https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Legrand-Wireless-Automation-Assistant-752184/dp/B08YDV7F4X/

AFAIK, all their switches marked as Netatmo are standard zigbee devices. And quite flexible in configuration - i.e. you can independently control if the switch’s light glows when powered on or off. I have two switches in a single frame in my bathroom (replacing two standard switches), and the ceiling light switch always glows so it can be found in the dark - the mirror switch only glows when it’s on. The tactile feedback is also quite nice. You can click the switch anywhere (top or bottom) to toggle power, while holding up brightens and holding down dims.

It looks like Legrand also makes a US Netatmo line, but I haven’t looked into other US options.

I also found that it doesn’t turn on in automation, if I set brightness_pct. Anyone has sam issue?

+1 with this issue. I bought one of these dimmers and I find this issue really annoying! I really don’t get it how Moes thinks this is usable…

Here’s a reply from Moes support:

"
We are sorry for the bad shopping experience, but the current dimming mode of smart dimmer switches is like this. Please understand.
"

Totally not in line with their own official videos:

Here’s their reply about the video:

"
Dear buyers, the video is processed at double speed. You can see that when it is turned off, the light is also turned off slowly.

Too bad… :S
