Monoprice 4-in-1 multisensor latency/inactive sensors

Hello,

I recently installed and set up a Monoprice 4-in-1 multi sensor (https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15902) and a fair amount of restarting and reconnecting, the sensor seems to be communicating with my hub (RPi 2 B w/Aotec Gen 5 Z-stick). However I am running into the following issues:

  • The latency on the motion sensor is very high. It takes between 5-10 seconds between walking past the sensor and triggering a message. Compare this to an Ecolink IR motion sensor I have that is nearly instantaneous.
  • The temperature/luminance/humidity sensor readings do not update with any regular frequency and it is not clear why.

Does anyone else have a similar experience with this sensor? I have a feeling it simply isn’t a very good product and I should have chosen something else, but I am still holding out hope that I can get some use out of it.

Thanks,
Drew

I have the same issue with it. Its just slow. It also seems to burn through batteries twice as fast as others, although its cheaper to replace with some AAA’s vs the CR123 batteries.

Yeah that is what I figured. I have the sensitivity increased but still it doesn’t consistently pick up movement until seconds later. Have you had better luck with any other multi sensors?

I have a bunch of Monoprice motion sensors that work OK, but they don’t do all of the other functions.
