Monoprice 43303 Door/Window Sensor

Has anyone used these Monoprice 43303 Senors? I got 2 on sale, but the instructions are horrible. I’m struggling to pair them. if anyone has any ideas, I’d like to try them before I return them. They would be perfect in the space i need, if I can get them to work. Thanks in Advance!

What have you tried so far? What part of the instructions do you find horrible? It looks straightforward to me. The easiest method by far would be to scan the QR code and include with that.

I’m sorry, I should have said that I tried to scan the code. It showed up as node 61. No other information. it could not be pinged and showed as dead. The unit itself flashed red a few times when i first put in the battery, but that still didn’t do anything different in the node, still showing as dead and nothing in the logs. I now can’t seem to get it to inclusion/exclusion mode. The LED no longer blinks. I have tried using the magnet, I have opened the case. Both of them did the same behavior too. Could I have gotten two defective sensors? I took out the batteries last night, and still the same thing today
EDIT: I also tried a new battery, and there are two devices that are unprovisioned, which are the codes that I scanned

Well, you can’t ping battery devices, so that won’t work. I’ve never seen a battery device reported as dead (they can’t be dead) either, so that’s odd.

How are you running Z-Wave JS? Add-on, stand alone container? Which version of those?

You can try a factory reset too, and then “Remove failed node” to remove them.

I’m running the Zwave integration. I was able to get one to connect and set up correctly, but the other sensor is not playing well. It shows up as provisioned and the message says “once device powers up…” or something like that when I re-added it. I took the battery out of the unit, and now the led lights up when i “open or Close” it with the magnet. I deleted the provisioned device and re added it, but it’s not “waking up” or communicating with home assistant. The instructions say to trigger the reed switch 3 times in 5 seconds to to into inclusion/exclusion mode, but I don’t see any visual feedback to let me know its working. I"m stuck on this last sensor. Not exactly sure what the reed switch is. I assumed it was "open/closing’ the switch with the magnet

did you ever get these working? They’re only $8 each now and I’d love to get some if they actually function. Nearly every review on the Monoprice site says they are useless.

nope, I sent mine back, stay away

Rolled the dice and gambled on the $8 clearance on Monoprice 43303 Z-wave door/window sensor.
Got it to work after a lot of fiddling around. The main problem I had was the battery connector, specifically the negative connector coil, it was causing the battery to short ( eating fresh cr2032 batteries! 3.3V down to 2.90V within a few insertions.). Bent the area where the negative coil could touch the positive side of the battery and everything started working as stated in their manual.

When inserting a battery, if the LED flashes red 5 times, it means the sensor is not part of a network. Blinks once if it’s already included in a network.
The back cover has two coils on it as a tamper alert. If you want to factory reset, the cover must be off and simulate 10 open/close within 10 seconds.
The back cover has to be on if you want to include/exclude. 3 simulated open/close within 5 seconds.

Works well for me with zwave-js-ui, shows up on home assistant as:
