Monoprice Z-Wave products are always re-branded versions of products from other manufacturers. Based on the comments, it looks like this the old version (1.0) of the Zooz ZSE40. You might get a better sense of the quality by looking for Zooz reviews. That said, the reviews for Z-Wave motion sensors in general seem to vary greatly.

According to the Zooz website, the difference between the v2.0 and v1.0 is:

We changed the battery type from standard AAA to the lithium CR123A and extended battery life by more than 100%. We added new LED indicator modes and optimized motion detection speed .

If those new features aren’t critical to you, $15 plus free shipping seems like a pretty good deal. I wonder if they are trying to clear out inventory for a new version. In comparison, the v2.0 product is on sale at The Smartest House (the Zooz store) for $30, and the normal price is $40.

I have a few of these currently that I got a while back. They do go through batteries fairly quickly and at times the response can be painfully slow. I am using them to trigger lights when entering a room and at best it will take a second or two and at worst I’ve seen it take 10 to 15 seconds before the light is triggered. They do provide temp, humidity and light levels.

With free shipping, it can’t hurt much to try a couple.
