More configurable options for auto backups

For those of us that use the built in http server to serve a static website communicating with web sockets, I store all my assets/camera assets into /config/www/cameras, when backups trigger it blows the backup size dramatically and i cannot exclude the camera files from this directory.

I’ve tried and spent many many hours on this to solve it, moved camera files to /media, however the http server can’t find the camera files because of a 401 response

I would really appreciate the “exclude_folders” option to be more dynamic and allow you to specify which folders to exclude/include

Your request is still valid if you consider the default backup offering within HA but if you haven’t already seen it, there is a backup solution in HACS: Home Assistant Google Drive Backup

Within their settings, it offers partial backups:

Unfortunately i have tried it and doesn’t allow you to exclude subfolders :frowning:
