That is an abomination of an install method and will give you nothing but pain.

Use one of the official install methods listed in the docs.

There is no such official installation method.
Where does it come from?

If it is GitHub - AlexxIT/HassWP: Portable version of Home Assistant for Windows (no need to install), see

so you’d have to install mosquitto somewhere yourself.

And then seriously consider not installing on Windows.

VM should be ok, at least for a “playground” HA. Definitely not something to recommend to a “production” HA, though.
WSL is surely a recipe for frustration unless you really know what you’re doing (don’t expect many user to be able to assist you).

Bottom-line: Invest the $60 for a RPI4 / proper sdcard / proper power supply and install HAOS if / when you want to actually do something else than playing with HA.
