Most stable way to integrate IKEA Trådfri Hub

Hi,

I have been using HA for just a few weeks, and experience that the IKEA hub connection is not working consistently:

  • Names are not changes in HA when changed in app
  • New devices are (sometimes) added automatically, but not always. I can control devices even though the names are not synced. They do sync after a restart.
  • Ikea hub sometimes can’t be reached from HA, which is resolved by restarting HA. Might be fixed through this update

HW: RPI3B+
SW: 2020.12.7
Note: I have assigned a static IP to my Ikea hub in my router.

What I want is:

  • For newly added devices in the Ikea app, is automatically added to HA
  • For name changes in the Ikea app to propagate to HA, without restarts
  • For the connection to be stable, without restarts

Questions:
What is the most stable way to integrate the hub according to above? Defining the IP in configuration or using auto discovery?

If using automatic room discovery, will a device added to a room that exists in HA be automatically added to that room?
