I have a Philips motion sensor and lamp. Hooked up in the simplest possible way using thew ZHA stick. It usually works fine, but today I found that it didn’t.
I can’t find useful information in the logs on the motion sensor, on why it wouldn’t work. I definitely saw it’s little LED go on, meaning it wanted to trigger, yet nothing happened.
THe logs I found only log successful events, which is kida useless in a scenario when diagnosing a failure. So the question is where do I go to diagnose when some doesn’t work? How do I figure out where the proverbial kink in the cable is?
Philips motion sensors require a quirk for ZHA. As a result there are two motion entities: a motion sensor entity and an occupancy sensor entity, only one of them works. Did you get the quirk when pairing, and/or did you pick the right entity?
If its worked previously, i would suggest looking at the automation trace to see what happened. If that gives you no useful info, the HA logs would be where I would look next.
For example, its possible on the devices was simply unavailable. (Its rare, but it does happen).
