Move entit(y|ies) to new area without moving the entire device, and all its associated entities

So I recently added another zigbee relay to my garage to compete the automation setup I started for it a while back, and created a zigbee group of the 2 relays.

My garage has two sets of lights, operated by their own switch, located at two separate ends of the garage, so I wanted to let both switches turn on ALL the lights.

My plan was to create a zigbee group of those relays, and automate that.

That’s when I ran into an issue. The zigbee controller (zbt-1) created an entity for the group.

But the entity is attached to the controller. So if I try to move that into the Garage area, it moves the entire controller there. Which isn’t a problem now, but may be if I create more groups of relays elsewhere in the house.

So, for now, I deleted the zigbee group, and added the relays to a switch helper in HA, and set up automations to have the two relays match each other when either is toggled by the physical switch. (Which is a whole other thing, I expected a switch group to mimic that with no need for additional automations, but maybe that’s just too much to expect.)

Entities can be in whatever area they want.

Unchecked that and you get to pick another. This trick is particularly helpful for media players that are part of another device such as a VPE.

A mod will come and close this as done shortly

Ah, I misunderstood that toggle to be “don’t put this in an area at all” interesting. Thanks.
