Hi all,
I recently moved house changing country .
I was using my home assistant in the Uk , using dockdns externals and for internal access URL.
I moved to Italy and I was hoping that changing the Dock dns IP was bringing my home assistant back to life , but I was probably to optimistic.
Can someone help me to understand what I should do to connect to my home assistant ?
I can see that my home assistant connect to the local IP , but when I am trying to connect to this IP :8123 doesn’t connect to it .
Please let me know if someone can instruction me . Thanks
You have probably changed ISP also and that comes with a lot of possible issues, but first we need to know a bit more about your setup.
DuckDNS is just a DNS service that translate yourhost.duckdns.org to an IP address.
This tells us nothing about your setup of ISP, router, network, HA and addons/integrations in HA.
Hello
Thanks for coming back to me and apologize if I didn’t reply.
So, I am using fritz box in Italy and I opened the port 8123 and 443 TCP of my homeassistant. I discovered that this router assign automatically an external ip4 Ip.
Once I move back to Duckdns is still picking up my router IP and not the one assigned for homeassistant . Here the problem . I did change the ip of duckdns manually, and I am able to access homeassistant for a couple of minutes only under my Wi-Fi , but once duckdns pick up again the router Ip it’s stopping to work.
I am entering into home assistant from my local Ip.
Any idea of what I should do for fixing this issue ?
You should setup up a nat loopback for your HA host to allow it to be accessed from the internal IP addresses or you could configure the HA client to use different internal and external addresses.
