Move proxmox HA-OS to dedicated PC

I started out running HA-OS on a proxmox VM. I now want to run HA-OS on a dedicated PC which obviously has different hardware.

Both HA’s have the latest versions. However when I try and restore a full backup it crashes the restore. I left the 178k backup restoring a full day.

I’d really love to be able to get this restore working or else I might just install proxmox on the dedicated PC and just move the VM to it.

Any help appreciated.

Post the error message. What is your host PC hardware?

Did you try to restore from the onboarding screen ? That often fails. Go throught on-boarding, the upload your backup and restore from the backup screen.

Thanks for the reply there isn’t an error. It just circling at the restore screen.

If I try to browse home assistant, the web page times out as if the webserver is down.

The host PC is a acer mini pci (intel i5/16GB ram)

Hey Francis,
Thanks for the reply.

So this is what I’ve tried.

  1. I image the HAS-OS iso onto the systems SSD. It boots up fine no issues.
  2. I browse the HA to the opening screen. From there I select RESTORE from backup.

That’s where it just circles on the restore and either kills the webserver. The other speculation is that it changes its ip to the ip of the old HA. However at the console screen I type in ‘network info’ and it gives me the same ip that it had at the beginning.

That often fails. Create a user etc… Once logged in, go to settings → backup, upload your backup and restore from there.

Just went to the same sequence (restore to virtualbox, to see if my backups are working)

That worked like a charm!!!

Thanks very much francis!
