I had some data on a WD External Drive (pictures, videos), that I wanted to be able to view via HA, but when moved the data disk, I cannot see any data that was on the disk before install on HA, I cannot lose this data as it was photos I don’t have backups of. I also use the videos on it for various memory compilations for my family. I need to be able to re-access it, WHATEVER IT TAKES.
Are you saying you used the ‘move data disk’ option in Home Assistant to try and view files on the external drive from within Home Assistant? Unfortunately, this wipes the drive before it moves HA files to it…
Does it fully overwrite the data with zeroes or can I still recover anything
I don’t know, but I would assume not. It may be possible for a data recovery service to salvage something off of it. I’d definitely stop using it with HA ASAP so as little is overwritten as possible to increase the chance of recovery.
