I know this has been asked many times in many different ways, but I want to ask one more time. Maybe its a slightly different question.
So I have a current instance of HA running well, I’m moving to a newer lower power computer. Old MS surface pro 1st gen. I’ve already got ubuntu 18.10 installed, HA installed and the devices that were discovered set up and configured.
I have not “moved” to the new device yet, because I want it to be reasonably seemless. I think getting all of my components, etc will be easy. My question is mostly about zwave. I have 40ish zwave devices. My understanding is if I just unplug the zwave stick from my current HA install and plug it into my new HA install, it will all just work. All the devices will be there and I wont have to do anything. I suspect it will be pretty easy, but not sure it will be that easy. So I have two questions
- Is it really that easy, is there any sort of configuration I need to do afterwards, like renaming, etc?
- If I move it over and realize it’s not going as well as I’d hoped and plug it back into my current HA install will it be back to normal, or will it require a bit of work because it had been running on a different instance of HA.
Mostly just trying to avoid spending the weekend fixing my zwave network, remove/readd/rename, etc
Thanks
Bonus for zigbee info as well. I dont have nearly as many of those devices so if I had to remove and readd it would not be the end of the world
