MQTT auto create config or assisted way

I was a bit struggeling to get the correct formatting, and converting all outputs in the configuration.yaml file for some simple MQTT devices. The device I was using was common device that probably other users are also using.

I finaly found out how to get it working, but I thought of something that may help everybody

I was wondering if it would not make sense for all of us using MQTT, that there was some kind of database with all known mqtt devices and there MQTT yaml configuration file definition for HomeAssist?

First of all, I’m new to HomeAssist, so maybe it already exist somewhere?
To get started it could be a very simple web page, that can be updated by anybody (git) that allows everyone to find all the device, and provide a example configuration that can easely be imported into HomeAssist configuration.yaml file, and potentially later integrate this into HA

Anybody having some thoughts on this, or having expiriance?

You are welcome to try, but it’s a lot of work and a major commitment.
People have tried forever to do things like suggested zigbee devices, best host computer, etc. and so far all fall apart quickly. There are over 125,000 members here and everybody writes at least a few posts, so… that’s a lot.

My suggestion is start with a search. The tools here are useful, but I generally use Google to search with a limiter to just this site. Then see if what you want exists, and if not it would also give you access to what’s here to pull in info about your subject.

That is an ongoing effort that about 30 people pulled together this year, so find help…
