Mqtt devices not showing up in HA

I dont understand why my mqtt smart plugs and other mqtt devices not working. just greyed out as seen here:

strange that i cant follow # topics. and i see that it fails to connect:

my mqtt is the mosquito add on n that looks fine right?

i did not update or touch HA. in fact, i even try to restore the last good snapshot of HA and that did not resolve. even after multiple core or host reboot.

please help.

What does your mosquitto log say ? (Last screenshot, click on log in the top)

ok, i think i got it resolved.
i had to go back here and put in the id of the broker. the “normal” id with short password does not work. id has to be “homeassistant”
all is well now. not sure why it needs my input after a restart of HA.
