The current MQTT Auto Discovery structure requirements seem more difficult then it should be. I’m coming from Home Seer, where the MQTT Implementation (via mcsMQTT (Michael McSharry) Plug-In) is so simple, an idiot like me can make it work with ease.
I might not have all the words and terminology correct but here is the basic premise.
Request:
Adding to the MQTT integration configuration ‘listen to a topic’ function. The ability to create a device from a listened to topic/payload. Selecting will allow the user, via GUI options, to satisfy all requirements for introduction into Home Assistant.
Since a picture can be worth a thousand words, here are 2 simple screenshots from mcsMQTT (Michael McSharry) fantastic Home Seer Plug-In as examples.
