I’ve searched this forum and to the end of the internet (and gone through at least 3 AIs) without finding an answer to this problem, so I’m really hoping some kind soul in here can help point me in the right direction.
I’ve been running Home Assistant on a dedicated machine for months. Everything has been working flawlessly. After getting the weirdest things to work, this issue got the best of me:
I’m not able to install the MQTT integration!
It’s not showing among the already installed integrations, and when I try to add it, I only get as far as this message: “single_instance_allowed”.
I take it HA thinks it’s already installed and running, but I haven’t found traces of it anywhere on the system. Not in any config files or in files in the .storage folder, at least. Nothing in the logs, either.
I’m running an external mqtt broker on another machine. This works fine, but I’d love to be able to connect my HA instance to this broker as well. First step would be to configure the core MQTT integration, but I’m not even getting that far.
Thanks, but yes, I did that as well. Even tried to configure it manually there as well (which was not allowed and didn’t work).
Errm… Also… I’ve found the solution and got it working now.
First post in this forum, and I’ve already made an ass of myself!
It turns out I’ve probably tested some MQTT stuff months ago, and then disabled the integration when I was done. Yup. Had to select “Show disabled” on the integrations page, and lo and behold: A quick enable and reconfigure and I was good to go.
I thought about just quietly and shamefully disappearing from this forum after this, but then I thought maybe there will actually come along others who are having a low iq brain freeze day, so I’ll just leave it here.
Hey it’s all good. We’re glad you found the problem. No worries at all.
As a bonus you can get your first solution by clicking the box on your post where you explained how you fixed it. It could help someone else! Or if you want to credit Koying because you wouldn’t have thought to check there without thier prompting, put the solution there.
