Multibrand (teckin, xiaomi, tp link) compatibility with HA

Hi community.

I am a complete noob so please help me decide how to build my smart room (pilot project):

  • I just want to control light zones (3 lights)
  • Control most sockets (8-10)
  • Have local access (internet is wonky here) mostly
  • use only 1 interface (HA)
  • use my pc and phone for control (i don’t mind teamviewer if pc only or no internet options)
  • be sensible in price
  • minimum automations
  • I am in Mauritius, so we mainly use UK/ French standard plugs (rules out most of aliexpress or amazon . com)
  • again because in mauritius, shipping is a factor, so need to ship all from 1 or 2 locations (UK looks easier on time and socket compatibility)

most compatible scenario so far:

3x tp link kasa light switches —> HA
2 x tp link kasa power strips ----> HA ??
4 tp link sockets ---- HA

this is super straightforward, but also costly (shipping and tax all accounted).

cheapest and where I NEED YOUR HELP

2 Aqara light switches (1 gang and 2 gang) + 10 teckin smart plugs —> Xiaomi gateway —> HA

would that work???

thank you

Hi,

Am from MRU too. I bought some devices from Banggood.com, but since curfew etc, its more cost effective to buy SONOFF products locally on Alimauritius.mu. Flash the sonoffs’ to use Tasmota or ESPHome and integrate with Home Assistant. You can run home assistant on any old pc or a raspberry pi as a server. You can also buy smart sockets from CSmart Mauritius and flash them using tuya-convert.
