I’m running HA on a raspberry pi4 and using one USB port for an external hard drive that has the HA OS on it. I have a ZooZ 800 zwave usb stick I wanted to plug into another USB port then add the zwave js integration but immediately get a warning about multiple active disks upon insertion. I understand this is probably because there is a conflict with my other USB port that’s running the OS so I’m a little confused how to move forward. Any guidance is appreciated.
You’re getting that after inserting only the z-wave controller? That doesn’t make sense. This device?
Not really sure about the warning, but it is generally sdviced to run all non-disc USB devices on a powered hub rather than directly on the Pi, due to an extremely limited power configuration hardware-wise.
Yes that’s correct, I’ve read there could be interference issues with the ports themselves so I’m going to use a usb extension cradle for the device but I don’t think this is an interference issue.
Note: When I insert the usb stick then click “+ add integration” the brand list never populates and just perpetually loads. I’ll get the extension cradle tomorrow and try again.
Update: using the USB cradle extension solved the problem and the zooz usb device successfully showed up once connected.
