Multiple Gang Dimming

Hello,

I currently have the KingArt WiFi switches throughout which use the ewelink app integrated into HA.

We are redesigning our kitchen/diner currently.

We will have the following:

1 x Set of Downlights
1 x Set of Downlights
1 x Island Pendant Lights
1 x Dining Room Table light

These will all be able to be switched independently but I would like all of these to be dimmable. Now, the only way i can think of currently as there does not seem to be a wide range of multi gang Dimmers, is to have 4!! Single dimmer switches.

Is there a better way to achieve this?

First we need to know your geography. Power requirements and device selection varies GREATLY by geo.

Apologies. I am based in the UK.

Thanks

Just googling around and thinking about activities to try and sort out before the Christmas rush and madness occurs with family visits, etc. and I’m in a very similar scenario, though I’ve inherited a kitchen (via purchase of a property also in the UK) and curious as to potential options.

I’ve got a 4-gang simple on-off switch attached to a 25mm backbox (though I’ve placed a riser to give a bit of extra depth and ease when rewiring to replace the old manual dimmer). Interestingly I have got access to neutral which isn’t very common in the UK.

This is currently configured as follows:
Switch 1 - 9 LED Spotlights
Switch 2 - 9 LED Spotlights
Switch 3 - 2 Drop Lights
Switch 4 - No Wiring Connected (Would love to somehow use this as a remote button if possible, was thinking if I could power a device via neutral alone to recognise the switch being open/close and use this in an automation to trigger another light/action remotely)

I’d love to be able to have HA handle lighting and critically also perform dimming functions as well associated to the rooms LUX rating or a predetermined scene I would configure.

However, issues encountered so far are that the Shelly Dimmer 2 would be ideal for the dimming function but shoving three into the backbox I doubt is viable from a volume/dimensions aspect. I can’t go further back into the wall (it’s a partition wall so there isn’t “infinite” space to go back into any further for a deeper backbox). Ideally I’d like to keep the simple on-off switch so that it can operate independently of HA for both basic users if they’re staying and should HA fail for whatever reason (hosting hardware failure, etc).

Any thoughts on options to achieve this? Did you get any further in your investigation @NotRichBen ?
