I’m hoping to get some insight into using my multi-sensor to turn on my smart switches based on ambient light. They’re currently set up to turn on and to a brightness based on time rather than ambient light. (i.e. if it is after 6pm but before 11pm, it’ll turn the lights on to 100% brightness; after 11pm it’ll turn them on to 35% brightness).
I’m looking to keep the time frame for the lower brightness the same but changing the earlier setting to work based on ambient light instead of the arbitrary after 6pm.
Thanks in advance!
What multisensor are you using?
I actually have two different ones. I have an Aeotec MultiSensor 6 outside, and a Zooz ZSW40 4-in-1 Sensor inside. I got the Zooz first and had it outside, but discovered the dynamic range of the light sensor was way too small. It went to max value when it was still pretty dim outside. So I moved that inside and it’s fine for monitoring inside light levels. The Aeotec has a much larger dynamic range and works well for monitoring outside light levels.
Anyway, I use the Aeotec to control my outside lights, and the Zooz for controlling my inside lights. Works pretty well.
I use a monoprice 4-in-1 sensor.
That appears to be the same as the Zooz 4-in-1. One must be OEM’ing to the other.
