I thought of that but couldn’t find a way to trigger it that was either, sadly.
The action is
The main issue is that I cannot get a playergroup to show up as a device or entity that I can add and control with a scene in HA. I’m not sure if I’m missing something obvious, but I cannot for the life of me figure that out. The issue with just adding each speaker to the scene perfectly is the syncing between speakers.
Check the music assistant integration and see if the group entity is there.
For some time I was successfully using my automation to pause music when I leave room and resume it after I’m back.
Since like 3-4 weeks, when there is only one track in queue (internet radio / podcast episode), when playback is paused it works like stop. Track is removed from queue so “resume playback” action does not work when I come back.
As workaround whenever I play single track I also add it as next track in queue. In such case pause/play works fine.
Can someone confirm same issue?
Are there plans to fix it?
What player provider are you using?
Hello, I see music assist is now an i Integration within Home Assistant with version 2024.12.
What’s the story with upgrading to 2024.12?
Does it copy over the MU HACS version into the new built in integration?
Do we delete the HACS installation after upgrading or are there any other actions we should perform?
Do we retain the existing add on as well?
Apologies if this has been dealt with somewhere else but nothing is jumping out to me,
Thanks in advance.
Same question as @currest2620. I didn’t see anything substantial in the 2024.12 release notes and couldn’t find any documentation about migrating an existing MASS install. Perhaps I’m jumping the gun a little
Hi, I upgraded to HA core 2024.12.0 and was promoted to update the MU integration. After applying that update, I was greeted repair to move to the new integration. This link was provided in that repair…
Look for the heading
Migrating from the HACS Integration to the HA Integration
And that link says:
Not all of the functionality of the custom HACS component is available in core as yet. The items below marked with a require the HACS Integration. If your use case requires those items then install the HACS Integration
Actions
HA Integration
The HA integration adds three actions for use in scripts and automations.
HACS Integration📦
The HACS integration adds six actions for use in scripts and automations.
- mass.play_media
- mass.play_annnouncement
- mass.transfer_queue
- mass.search
- mass.get_library
- mass.get_queue
So, I will wait, until the core thing does it all…
I’ve installed the new core integration but have a repair, I gather I am still on the custom integration until I run the repair…
Think I’ll leave it at that for time being as I’ll need to update quite a few automations and scripts…
Adjusting the MA actions in scripts and automations by replacing mass. with music_assistant.
Anyone know if the music players (speakers) and libraries come across to the new integration?
i tried music assistant 2 years ago and it was working somehow (altough not good enough to actually use it), but it was looking promising.
but for a long time now, somehow is not working at all anymore … first it simply wasnt able to play anything.
after reinstalling addon + integration, the integration, nor the addon is able to find any playback devices anymore.
so i wonder why it’s now “2.0” … sounds like a very stable release? okay…
One is smb network file storage (mp3) and other one is internet radio (custom url). Same behavior for both.
@Cr4z33 if you are asking how to get MA to send to cast devices then you just add the cast provider to MA and your devices will be discovered.
Nope.
I want to create a Google Home automation where when I say “Hey Google play putnameofmediacontenthere
from Music Assistant” it starts playing the content on one of my Google devices.
Sorry that is not possible. If you want voice control then your options are here Voice Control - Music Assistant although there will be changes coming to the first option as the integration is moved into HA core. Specifically, the inbuilt Assist sentences will be removed in favour of a provided blueprint.
Oh I see.
I rather prefer to wait for the (incoming?) blueprint then, but thanks for letting me know!
It’s Snapcast (android tablet with snapcast client)
