Music Assistant 2.0: Your Music, Your Players

If you open an issue on GitHub then the Snapcast dev can have a look.

Is there any effort to add Pandora support to MA? it was voted on as the most requested feature, yet I don’t see any chatter around it.

lastly, is there a way to add my local PC as an output?
I’ve added “this device” - ie my local PC.

but it doesnt show up:

Is there a way to increase the basic volume for Slimproto players? I have already tried to switch off the normalization for the individual players, unfortunately without success.

Unfortunately, my Dayton amplifier switches the channel to standby at less than 12.3mV.

@jazzmonger in the poll yes but users are upvoting individual discussions as well which is more telling music-assistant Feature Requests And Ideas ¡ Discussions ¡ GitHub

Without further dev support new features will be very slow to arrive.

On your second question Alexa is not supported.

@7weazel7 The volume control you have is what is shown in the MA UI

FYI, I’ve migrated over to the new HA Integration. Seems a pretty straight forward process.

I note the following actions are absent for now but I wasn’t using them in my automations anyway:

  • mass.search :package:
  • mass.get_library :package:
  • mass.get_queue :package:

I recommend using the ‘edit in yaml’ option when updating scripts and automations when replacing replacing mass. with music_assistant., that way you won’t lose options like media_id: when you update.

All the options like speakers and playlists come over from the add-on.

For me missing mass.get_library is a big drawback. I stick to hacs integration. Wondering what is the reason.

Hi i’m new to music assistant.
Old situation: i added spotify integration into HA and use spotcast to cast urls for radio, i even use a script from thefes for resuming audio on my google speakers after TTS

Now i just jumped on this music assistant ship.
Some questions though

  • can i get rid of the resume audio script?
  • get rid of spotify integration in HA?
  • even the spotcast?
  • i have mediaplayer groups in HA, should i sync those, or create own groups in MA?
I just added the spotify account in MA, but i have a family account
How do i do that? Or how do i switch accounts?
Whats the best thing for radio? (Belgium), use the radio browser or tune in?
For tune in its possible with free account?

Then final for now, but anyone have a nice card for home assistant dashboard?
Sorry for all the questions.

@skank Yes you can remove everything you had before. You should only use MA players therefore create the groups in MA.
You can add multiple Spotify accounts. You don’t switch between them, MA has one single library.
It doesn’t matter which radio provider you use. Radio works for free.
See the GitHub discussions for possible HA card solutions

So i delete the mediaplayers in HA? And the groups?
Cause i synced them to MA, so i have the mediaplayers there (not the groups yet), but MA syncs to HA again, so i have the same players again in HA too (double)

The groups i understand i only need in MA

For multiple spotify accounts, how does that go?
Cause when i play a song from my library, and my daughter plays that song too (her account), will my account stop playing then?

ok will look for HA card solutions

Unless you have some particular need for the HA players they should all be removed and let MA discover your players and create your groups. There is no issue when using multiple Spotify accounts.

Hi,
I installed Music Assistant some days ago, and I am now trying to remove my old LMS Server and use HA with Music Assistant only. But I cannot get my Squeezebox connected to Musix Assistant with the Slimproto. It seems something is missing.
When I install the Squeezebox, it tries to find the LMS, but does not find it. It than asks for the LMS Server IP, where I put in the HA IP (where Music Assistant is running). The Squeezebox than hangs with the information “Connecting”, …
In Music Assistant I can see the box, but I cannot use it and cannot turn it on. It seems as if the Squeebox is missing something back. Serious question: The Box is called “Büro” but shown in Music Assiatant as “Bür”, so maybe the “ü” does make the problem? (I have no idea how to rename the Box.
Before I had a LMS Server running, which I integrated with Lyrion Server into HA, and could use the Squeezebox in HA and could add the Squeezebox as a “HA Media Players” to Music Assistant and it worked well.
Any chance to get rid of the LMS Server, or is the “work around” with the “slimproto on HA” the way to go?
At the moment “Slimproto” is deleted on the HA where Music Assistant is running.

thanks for any input
Juergen

OK. The Squeezebox still says “Connecting”; but if I use Music Assistant to play something, it is played… (While the display still says “Connection is beeing astablished”.
Any idea what is happening there?
thanks
Juergen

FYI, I have noticed errors with the media_player.join actions in my automations since upgrading to the new HA integration.

Error: Invalid command: players/cmd/group_many

Unfortunately this is resulting in my automations not completing. I have set continue_on_error: true for the time being.

MA is not a LMS server which is why the Squeezebox can’t connect to it. However, MA can output to devices which support the slimproto protocol (e.g. the Squeezebox)

Hi @OzGav ,
so my Squeezebox are basically waiting for getting something back from the server and hang at this point?
As the Squeezebox is asking for a server during installation, what should I use?

many thanks
Juergen

I don’t use these so I don’t know what this device is but if it plays back content from MA then it would seem nothing else needs to be done from a MA perspective.

It is possible to find favorited playlist in Music assistant in the home assistant’s media browser ?
