Music Assistant 2.0: Your Music, Your Players

Maybe with a bit of luck, anybody here knows any pointers…
(have also posted in this thread: Music assistant error Player does not support enqueueing - work around? - Configuration - Home Assistant Community)

I experience the same (similar) issue as mentioned over in the other thread since shifting over to MA (for years now)…

in a nutshell: radio-streams cut out after x amount of time… between 15 and 100+ seconds after starting the stream…

  • only on radio streams (no matter what music provider - Tune-in, radio-browser, … )
  • non-radio works fine (spotify)
  • Players are all SONOS based (not actual sonos, but the IKEA version)

PS: the “DNS fail” in the logs is strange also… I run adguard and redirect all DNS resolves in my network to it… it shows only successful logs (no blocks, fails, redirects, …) coming from any of the involved hardware…
Will also track - log in the other threads mentioned here…

cutout of the log files from the latest fails (debug enabled on tune-in and sonos)

It seems the Announcements volume is not working on my MA Airplay Players. No matter what I set the player’s Announcement volume to on the configuration page, it’s always the same as the music currently being played. Any ideas?

Hello friends! I need a working archive with Music Assistant 1.5.0, because my processor is outdated and does not support newer versions. Can anyone share the archive?

Try GitHub.

I found the necessary archive on GitHub, but it turned out to be an archive for the developer, not the component itself.
https://github.com/music-assistant/server/releases?page=35

If the DNS is failing the that is something you need to resolve. As for your main question it is impossible to say based on the information you have provided so you are best to ask on GitHub.

Are you looking for the addon repo at GitHub - music-assistant/home-assistant-addon: Music Assistant add-on (repository) for Home Assistant?

Unfortunately this doesnt have tags or releases so not very easy to target a specific version. You would need to locate the commit where the config.yaml file has the version line at the version you require. The version is currently on the second line of config.yaml.

name: Music Assistant Server
version: 2.5.4

Hi all. Fairly new to home assistant and very new to music assistant so please be gentle.

Not sure if I am doing something wrong but I don’t seem to be able to get MA to play more than one track at a time.

For example, I choose an album and hit play - it plays the first track then stops. If I manually move it forwards and press play - same thing.

If I add to a queue and try to play the queue - same exact problem.

I don’t even know where to start looking! Thank you all in advance. I did do a search but the only reference I found to this issue someone also had the beta version installed, which I don’t.

My Core and MA are all up to date with the latest versions.

Sounds like a player problem but this is not the place for extensive troubleshooting. Please come and ask on Discord or GitHub.

Beta 13 has been released with experimental support for Alexa devices. Please as questions in Discord or GitHub.

So, i created a script and there is an option for ‘shuffle’ the queue/playlist. But i cant find a way to enable/disable the repeat mode (for instance, repite entire queue).
I cant find that option in the documentation.
There is an option to set it manually, but how can it be automated in a script/automation?

You use the repeat_set action Media player - Home Assistant

Awesome, thank you!

Is it possible to edit a MA playlist/queue to rearrange the order (like manually editing for example the playlist h42gZ8Tj with nano or vscode), or will it mess something up?

There are some options for sorting the queue, but i would like a custom one.

A playlist and the queue are totally different things. You can edit the queue with the menu on the right of each item in the now playing screen. Playlists cannot be edited but you can use the sort order option and then create a new playlist.

I am having an issue with Home Assistant sending TTS notifications to Music Assistant. They all sound fast like a chipmunk. When I send them directly to the speaker instead they sound normal. Any idea on how to fix?

I can’t seem to get Radio Browser provider te work anymore…

Tried restarting my container, reload the provider, sync the provider, but nothing works.

When I open a random Radio, it shows an error; “Error occurred while communicating with the Radio Browser API”.

I’m always on latest MA version (auto update).

Secondly, the MA integration in HA does something strange as well. The media player in developer options in HA shows that it is playing, but status of the player remains on “idle”.

In MA the player is just playing. And yes, it is also actually playing music

Same here :disappointed:
