Music Assistant Companion connection failure

I have Music Assistant running fine on a docker container on an rPi OpenMediaVault host. MA GUI is accessible via browser and plays music from local library on OMV thru a sendspin Multi-Room Audio provider to a hifi-connected USB DAC on same host.

I would like to use the Music Assistant Companion app on local macBooks both to avoid using browser to manage MA, and also as player on macs.

Installed MA Companion 0.0.74 on mac using brew. In MA Companion setup dialog, i input identical ip:port settings to what are in MA/SettingsSystem/Webserver, and these settings are what browser uses to access MA.

However, the Companion app gives an “Cannot connect - check IP and port” error. I have confirmed mac setting allows local network access permission for Companion app.

I appreciate that MA companion is still kind of a work in progress, but hoping this is just some overlooked setting issue. Any thoughts, anyone ?

[note, I currently am not yet running HA, as I have a house full of zigbee stuff, so plan to build an HA system around zigbee and MQTT all on a different host from the music stuff, then integrate MA in later.]
