I have had HA running for about a year with no problems. not using for much, waiting to be developed. We have a Bose speaker that became defunct due to bose shutting down the servers so I looked into the options and decided the simplest was to add music assistant to opeate the speaker. I added a link to a NAS that has all my music on it and BBC sounds.
It works but HA is now very slow and crashes regularly due to OOM.
is this to be expected? it is running through proxmox with 2 cpu and 8gb ram allocated? would it be better connecting it to a jellyfin server instead of directly to the NAS ?
Your server should run MA just fine, how big is your music library? Although that should not effect speed once the library has loaded and meta data is cached. MA was developed to run on a RPi, not sure if this is still recommended hardware, but it should not stress out your system. Might be worth checking out other stuff as well.
Do you happen to use yt-dlp to listen to music from YouTube? I ask because when I tried using it on my low-end terminal (HP T620), the symptoms were exactly as you described. I also use Proxmox (with LMS instead of MA, though the issue lies - I think - with yt-dlp itself, which requires specific CPU features that my terminal’s processor lacks).
