Not sure where to put this so please forgive me if this is not the right place. I believe my problems are mostly with the player integrations.
I recently discovered Music Assistant and it seemed to solve the long standing problem of playing music to all my smart speakers. I have a mix of both Sonos and Chromecast speakers (multiple vendors of those). Sonos does not support Chromecast.
Over the past several days, I installed Music Assistant along with both Chromecast and Sonos plug-ins. I created a player group with my heterogeneous speakers. At first it worked and did exactly what I wanted (albeit the audio sync between Chromecast and Sonos is not good but they’re in separate areas so it’s fine).
However, I consistently get disconnects for both Sonos and Chromecast speakers. Often the hourglass shows on the player. I see lots of socket errors for various speakers in the log file.
1, is there a simple way to resync the players?
2, I find that the Sonos speakers won’t show up for a good 30-50 minutes after a restart. Is that normal?
3, after initiating playback (which I occasionally get working), it works for some time but once a speaker in the group disconnects due to socket error, the playback pauses. Is this normal/expected?
4, any guidance on eliminating the socket errors?
My environment is all ubiquiti and I’ve enabled mDNS and ICMP snooping. All the speakers and HA are on the same subnet. HA is wired. Everything is up to date. I don’t move any of the equipment once I start playing (ie, they don’t browse to a new AP).
I’m seeing lots of pychromecast.socket_client socket errors for both Chromecast and Sonos speakers.
Thanks for any advice you have.
