I tried to set up my Home Assistant Yellow Kit with Power-over-Ethernet that I purchased via seeedstudio.
I tried everything by checking if the green CM4 PCB is parallel to the Yellow PCB, and ensuring the CM4 board onto the board-to-board connectors until it clicks into place.
I also changed the ethernet cable but no lights at all coming from the device.
Who should I contact regarding this issue?
Have you verified your switch if providing the correct PoE power?
if it is really a DOA, you should contact the seller, assuming this is the standard procedure.
Good point!
Does a standard home router provide the correct POE power? Or do I need a POE injector/switch?
Define a standard router.
AFAIK here in the Netherlands, no provider delivers a router with PoE.
If that is the case, you will need a power injector of a switch with PoE capabilities.
I’m referring to a standard router that is commonly supplied by network providers, which I guess doesn’t have POE capabilities.
Thanks for your answer, I will get a POE injector and update the post if that works!
Make sure your injector supports 802.3at as this is what the yellow requires.
There are several POE standards.
802.3af, 802.3at, 802.3bt (type 3 or 4). All of these have different power levels.
I’ve never heard of an ISP router doing POE. If you had one that does then the documentation for it would be very clear that it does.
will do thanks
You are right. It doesn’t have PoE
Update:
The device is working now after getting a power injector!
Thanks all
