My Midea ACs become unavailable frequently

I have installed the Midea Smart AC integration following all the instructions required for this custom integration. The integration auto discovers my ACs and everything works hunky dory initially. However, after a few hours, all of them become “Unavailable” and everything stops.

I have tried reloading the configuration but then it fails. I have to remove the devices and re-add them via auto discovery. They get added again just fine but after a few hours again become unavailable. I have tried this a few time and have no success on making them work consistently.

I have written automations for all the devices and when they are discovered, the automations work just fine but once the devices become unavailable, eveyrthing stops.
Please help :frowning:
Not sure if it is the wifi or the EU-SK105 wifi dongle in the Midea ACs.

From the integration documentation:

Did you do this?
Wild guess: the IP address of the AC changes every x hours.

Thank you for your reply. I haven’t done this step. Is there any documentation on how can I set up a static IP address? I use a Deco mesh system from TP-link. I can see the devices on the TP-link app but do no see the option to set a static IP Address.

UPDATE: I set Static IP Addresses for my AC and they seemed to be working fine now.

Thank you for your tip @koying.

Same situation here. How did you manage to set static ip?
Thanks

Same situation on my side, not sure what/why. It can be connected for weeks but in randomly goes offline. Sometimes I can keep the AC unpowered for 15-30 minutes and it comes back up. Sometimes restarting the router/mesh helps. Right now it has been offline for over a week and have not found a solution yet, though the AP mode still works

I use the “Midea AC LAN” integration (installed via HACS) with a static IP reservation (set on my router).

  • The integration isn’t local - both HA and the AC require an internet connection.
  • It doesn’t have a way to set the position of the vertical swing.

However as long as my internet connection is up, the integration has been rock solid / I have never had it disconnect and the integration is bi-directional - I can set automations to trigger if I turn the AC on/off on the control panel.

Most likely you need to set a static IP reservation on your router, if that doesn’t work you could try a different integration.

Sorry, meant that the AC goes offline even in its own app. My router assigns the same IP address and does not usually rotate it.

Eww… yall are still using the provided Midea comms? Gross.

Get this 3rd party dongle. It plugs into the Midea AC unit and controls it. It shows up in HA as a standard AC unit and doesn’t give any fuss.

It’s literally the easiest alteration you can make for a Midea thingy.
