I’ve installed an Android tablet in my kitchen to display useful information to the family (energy, temperatures, ccctv,…) on a dedicated dashboard using the Fully Kiosk app.
Like many, my tablet is plugged in a smart socket and I have set an automation so that the socket lets the tablet charge when the battery level is down to 20% and stops the charge when it reaches 80%.
Everything worked well until the battery level entity got stuck to 100% and my tablet discharges down to 0%.
The battery level displayed by Android (in the top toolbar) remains correct though.
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling Fully Kiosk, which temporarily resolves the issue, but it eventually recurs.
Everything else works fine. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions for troubleshooting?
Thanks
I should mention another problem I have in case they are related: I can’t install the Fully Kiosk integration in HA because it fails to connect to my tablet. I followed several tutorials and discussions to troubleshoot the issue, and it seems that I can’t open port 2323 of (the IP address of) my tablet.
For discussion specific to this topic, please see my post:
How are you getting the battery level if you can’t install the Fully Kiosk integration? Presumably you have the HA app on the tablet as well? If so it may be something to do with the Android battery saving settings. You might check the tablet settings to make sure HA is allowed to run in the background and ignore battery saver rules.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Indeed, without the FK integration in HA, I have to run HA companion on my Tablet (Btw, I have an update for this issue, see my other post).
Good idea to check if HA companion is put to sleep by the battery optimiser of my Tablet. On Android 11, the “background usage limit” needs to be unable to work (and put apps to sleep unless used), and in the case of HA companion, it was not enabled (good, I left it unticked).
Good news, though: Since I switched my Tablet back on this arvo to refresh my memory on the issue and start this topic, the Battery_level_entity started working again. I’ll monitor it and inform the community if the problem definitely solved itself or if it’s another of this temporary victory and the thing is going to get stuck to 100% again (while I’m only charging it to 80%…)
I’ve been running FK on a Fire tablet for two years. I also have a PLUS license. I’ve only recently lost a bunch of sensors, and came to the forums to find out why.
I see a ton of issues with the FK integration all of a sudden. I actually deleted all of the devices and then added my tablet back. No issues going through that, but I’m missing my battery sensor, which means my charging scheme will no longer work:
Sorry I can’t help you, however, it’s interesting to note that the info displayed by my integration is a little bit different from yours.
In the Sensors section, I have:
However, down below, in the Diagnostic section, I have a long list of info, including the battery level and if it’s plugged in or not that you have a Sensors section, and the other controls that you have in the Controls section that I don’t.
