I hope someone can help me.
Today, my ZBT-2 suddenly stopped working with my Matter network, and all of my Matter devices went offline.
So far, I’ve tried the following:
- Restarted both the OpenThread Border Router (ZBT-2) add-on and the Matter Server add-on.
- Reset the ZBT-2 and created a completely new Thread network.
- Created a fresh Home Assistant installation for testing.
- Remove all thread credentials from my iPhone and reset the network on my iPhone
- Reset my iPhone
Unfortunately, nothing has solved the issue.
The strange part is that whenever I try to add a new Matter device to Home Assistant, it automatically joins my Apple HomePod’s Thread network instead of the ZBT-2. In Home Assistant, I have configured Thread to use only the ZBT-2 as the preferred Border Router.
My setup:
- Home Assistant OS running as a VM on Proxmox (installed using the Community Scripts installer): Proxmox VE Scripts
- Core: 2026.7.2
- Supervisor: 2026.07.3
- Operating System: 18.1
- Frontend: 20260624.5
Versions:
- OpenThread Border Router: 3.0.2
- Matter Server: 9.0.4
- ZBT-2 Firmware: OpenThread RCP 2.7.2.0
Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what might be causing this?
