Had HA setup for many years with my own domain myha.duckdns.org and have recently started playing around with Nabu Casa, mainly for consistent Google and Alexa integration. Spotted that I can add a Custom Domain for remote access, so wanted to use my existing domain for myha.duckdns.org.
So, on the Nabu Casa account page it simply says
"Before you go further you need to adjust the DNS settings for the domain duckdns.org
You need to add 2 new CNAME records to it, your DNS provider have guides on how you do that."
So, cannot find ANY information ANYWHERE on how to do this, is it even possible to add CNAME records to a duckdns domain ?
There is no facility to do this on the duckdns.org website that I can find…
You don’t own (nor rent) duckdns.org, so this is not applicable for those dynamic dns services. It will work for any domain you actually own (or rent), whatever the registrar you bought/rented it from.
“Owning” is to be taken as: “I have full control of the DNS configuration of that domain”
"Owning” is to be taken as: “I have full control of the DNS configuration of that domain”
That’s a specific explanation of what you believe “Owning” means. If we want to look into this then it’s really just a statement that re-enforces your own point of view as to what you think “Owning” means in this context.
e.g. ask any DuckDNS user if they own a domain name and 99% will say “Yes, I own mydomain.duckdns.org”.
BTW There is no link to update the documentation of the Nabu Casa page for this function
Maybe get your facts right first before jumping in with a ‘clever’ comment in order to score some imaginary points off someone who asked a perfectly simple question and unfortunately got a pedant replying…
Besides semantic, I don’t want some points. I want to expand for others that might have a look at that post (this forum is meant for that as well; it’s not a 1-to-1 support channel).
I replied basically the same thing as ludeus did, just that you pissed him with your passive-aggressive attitude so he changed his answer to a single-word one, but I thought it might be interesting for others to learn (at least the ones want who want).
