Nabu Casa: Google Home/Assistant as other user

I successfully coupled Nabu Casa to Google but face the following problem:

I set up some voice commands which trigger Home Assistant “actions”. This works fine for me.

When me wife tries the same commands she gets an error back and nothing is happening. I guess this is due to the fact that the connection to Nabu Casa is made with my user and not hers.

Anything I can do about this so she is also able to voice commands?

Am I the only one with that particular problem or am I doing something wrong?

Custom commands are per individual, I believe. So if you’ve set routines or whatever, those are specific to you.

If you want your family to be able to control the lights and switches and stuff, you just need to invite the other person in the home app and then it should populate on their phones and respond to their voice on the speakers. They’ll need to have their voice configured for the devices though.

Google is a real PITA with this and it becomes a real problem when it loses contact with Nabu Casa and then the only person that can sync is the person who set it up (thanks Google! Why would I want this to work for my family even when I’m not home to tell it to sync‽ /S)

Thanks for your answer!

So to be more precise:
The wifey is member of my home and all the commands of Home assistant are successfully populated to her device and she can successfully initiate them via the buttons e.g. in the device control area of Android.

I didn’t know that routines are individual, so I now tried to add the same routines as I have. Turns out that actions/scenes from Home Assistant are not available in her Google Home routine setup, only devices.

So I would need to connect to my Nabu casa account also with her Google account I believe. Is this the way to go? I am a bit hesitant to do this because I don’t want to have everything twice…

Did you ever find a fix for this. It has plagued me for a while now.

Unfortunately not. The wife just gave up on the voice commands and uses her mobile phone instead…
