Nabu Casa has access to local instance even when remote access is disabled?

I have my local instance set up to automatically connect or disconnect my instance from the Nabu Casa Cloud dependent on whether or not I am home. This way remote connection to my local instance is only available when I leave the house.

But on Nabu Casa’s Remote UI page, it states that:

You may find yourself in a situation where you are away from home and want to access your instance, but it is not connected to your remote UI server. In this case you can navigate to your Nabu Casa account page to get your instance online.

  1. How is this possible, even when my instance is disconnected from the cloud?

  2. Does this not defeat the purpose of automating remote access to my local instance, since remote access can be triggered remotely.

  3. How can I completely eliminate remote access, to even Nabu Casa, while I am home? Calling the service cloud.remote_disconnect seems to be insufficient.

Thank you,

You are always connected to nabu casa (you have a linked account) whether or not you choose to expose your instance remotely.

Perhaps they should add the ability for you to disable specific “access” similar to how on an Android you can block apps from accessing certain things.
