I actually have home assistant running on a Synology NAS in a virtual machine.
I have opened on my router the port 5001 (HTTPS) to access the NAS via HTTPS, and a certificate on the NAS.
I have my own DNS “my server.be”
… I now want to secure the Home assistant as well via HTTPS, but do not understand to do it.
So I am thinking about buying the Nabu Case access, but I am wondering if :
The remote access to homer assistant will be secured ?
Will it be HTTPS ?
Can I still use my own domain to access via outside (my server.be) ?
On top I would be contributing to with my subscription
Then don’t do it. When you decide to open your door to the world the world will come to you. Don’t worry about it.
For a small fee you can give that job to someone else who knows how to do it, will maintain it and support ha development.
Thank you … when I mean access my home.assistant via myserver.be (my DNS), I mean throuh Nabu Casa config, or I will be obliged to use a nabu vasa specific URL ?
You can use your Bring your own url… BUT… You may not be able to use that specific port you’re already using to pipe through to your NAS unless you use a SSL terminating reverse proxy on that endpoint.
You can open a separate port but honestly. I’d have a hard time recommending that if you’re not already a security pro.
