I’ve been using the caldav integration for quite some time now but it has proven to be unreliable (although an event is clearly there it not shown as active in HA), unstable (see recent issues since the 2022.2 update) and very picky about the CalDAV server and client (doesn’t really work with Nextcloud, for example, I only could get it to work with Baikal quite a nice product; depending on which CalDAV client you use to create events it also oftentimes doesn’t work). Others are probably facing the same issues. Therefore I’m wondering whether it makes sense to integrate calendars natively into HA. Not only would it - ideally - eliminate all of the above issues it would also remove the necessity of running an external CalDAV server and therefore reduce complexity and increase stability of the whole system. And all input would be possible within one UI.
Well using it here since a while and it works out of more than one day events that don’t show up in ha

At the moment, the caldav is completely broken with nextcloud. I receive a python caldav error and the calendars don’t even show up. before this complete failure, I can’t even get daily repeating events to trigger like an alarm or “remote start car”
It’s really disappointing because there’s a lot of opportunity to adjust automations on the fly based on calendar events. I don’t think that native calendar support is a viable solution, I’d rather someone with the time to work on this just get the existing caldav working.
+1 for this. Tried a solution a while back (dont remember what it was now), but it was an epic fail. Would definitely make homeassistant better.
Fully agree all the more as it’s really not a complicated problem 
I have made a PR in HA documentation so that integration clearly states it works in a very partial way with NC instead of current statement indicating full compatibility 
In conjunction with getting the CalDav integration to work, it would be awsome to have something like Baikal as a supported Official or Community Add-On.
This is nice and I’ve moved my calendar bas r d automation.
It would just be nice if the caldav worked and cached events locally when there are sync issues. If the internet goes down with caldav, the whole online calendar is lost.
The work done for a local calendar is amazing and I’m grateful. I just would like to have more resilient online calendars
