Need a little here...Hassbian or HASS.io

I originally setup Hass.io then after a couple of different videos I decided to goto Hassbian. Now what I am reading is that HASS.io is where home assistant is headed. Just a little confused. Can anybody point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for any help!

While it is all very confusing for those that don’t have the luxury of keeping up, hass.io is intended to be like an appliance (like any of the other smart home hubs in a way), and hassbian is still a full raspbian with home assistant pre-installed.

If you need access to the underlying OS and there is not an ‘add-on’ for what you want to do with it, or if you want to use your pi as a display as well, then go hassbian.

If you want a plug-n-play appliance, and the add-ons and built in home assistant components support everything you need, then go with hass.io.

Can you point me in the best direction to setup HASS.io with all of my HA devices. GA, Hue, Nest, TP Link…

Thanks for your help!

You need to look through the components. If it is listed in components, it is probably already installed and ready for you to use in hassio.
