Need a water hose solution

Several times now my wife has gone outside to water her plants and left a hose on full blast, open end all night. I need a valve that I can automate and turn it off at night and even schedule so its only on for an hour at a time.
I have mains power nearby and Ill even go through the wall of the home with power to make this happen.
I need ideas on the hardware to use. A valve I can screw on to the hose bib that the hose will attach to.
My plan is to have an NFC tag for her to scan to turn it on and it will only run an hour at a time.

How does she forget to turn a hose off?!

Exactly… Thats why I need to fix this once and for all…

Garden irrigation valves available from any hardware store usually work on 24V AC. Easy enough to buy an off the shelf plug-pack for this and control it via a relay from ESPHome.

I have this

These is zigbee version but I think there are wifi too.

I just bought one of these which goes right between tap and hose: Wireless Watering System - LinkTap

Does it work with ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT?

Unfortunately neither. It comes with its own little Zigbee gateway.

The Lidl/Silvercrest one? Comes with Zigbee2MQTT support, if I’m not mistaken.

The tuya valve works with both.

I use with z2m but it works with zha too.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wound up getting these after searching the forums. There is a HACS integration for them. Ill report back in a few days.

@Rich37804 how did this work for you. In search of the same.

Working great. The response isn’t instant, but they work well for scheduling irrigation and making sure my wife does not leave the water running all night.

@Rich37804, how long do the batteries last on these things? Have you had to change the batteries at all?

I got 4-5 months out of the batteries but it was winter and they were just on the shelf in the garage not being used.

I just looked. I changed the batteries around the first of March and they have 75% and 80% battery remaining.

Which model Tuya are you using? I see there are quite a few. Thanks.

I have two:

Thanks - the first one is better for my application as I am using it on an outside faucet. I found this model on Amazon for less and prime shipping. So going to give it a try.

If you use ZHA, require a custom quirk: Tuya water valve (TS0049 by _TZ3210_0jxeoadc) · Issue #2377 · zigpy/zha-device-handlers · GitHub
