Need HACS Default Custom Repository Links

Good day,

I installed HACS to try a custom Linksys Velop integration. It’s set up and working, so I don’t want to reinstall HACS.

This issue is that when I went into the area to add a custom repository (three dots on top of the repos section), there were two items in there which I thought it was trying to install. I clicked the delete icons for both before I realized they were the ALREADY ADDED custom repositories. I don’t know what they were, but I’m afraid they were necessary for something and would like to re-add them.

If someone could click their configuration and tell me what those two defaults were, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Steven

I’m reading there were bugs in HACS with “ghost repositories”. Maybe this is related? Just looking to get confirmation that nothing is required in that list for HACS to work correctly.

Thanks,
Steven

When there is a custom repository in that menu section it is only there to allow you to install/uninstall/update that repository via HACS itself.

Even if you already had the custom repo installed in HA then removing it from the list only prevents you from manipulating that repo via HACS. You can still do all of that manually until it’s rep-added to HACS either via the custom repo or by it being added as a default repo and then adding it to the HACS control panel again.

And there are NO repositories in HACS that are “necessary” for HA or HACS to run. They are only there to add functionality to HA that is not otherwise available.

I wouldn’t worry about it. If they were repos that you use then you will probably figure it out when you try to update.

Besides I’m not even sure there are “default custom repositories”. That’s kind of a mutually exclusive concept.

Thanks,

I’m new to HACS as I tried to keep my HA to default for simplicity sake. I couldn’t pass up the functionality this custom integration provided, so I intend to dabble in a very limited way, and am only initially concerned with that integration.

There are some custom cards that this integration recommends to make some pretty nifty cards in lovelace, but after I installed them and restarted, HA said the cards didn’t exist even though they were in www/community under the config folder. I wasn’t sure if I broke something, or if I should investigate further that some other thing is misconfigured for the custom cards to work.

It’s a learning curve, I just didn’t want to chase ghosts if I deleted something important that may have caused it. Thanks for the information.

Sometimes HA is “cache-y” so you may need to refresh the browser cache (ctrl-F5 in chrome).

if that doesn’t solve it then post that result here again. Maybe someone (or I) can help get it sorted out.

Yeah, that seemed to be it. Restarting HA wasn’t enough. Refresh the browser and it worked. SMH
