Need help picking the right version/method to install

Coming from openhab2, I’d like to switch to HA.

However, I am confused about which version to pick: HASS.io or Hasbian?

I want the normal Raspbian OS with its graphical interface to still be accessible. So I assume if I install HASS.io, this will not be the case and I can only run HASS.io on that Pi.

Is that also the case for Hasbian? Or will Hasbian simply install Raspbian Lite with HA running in the background?

Is there a difference between HASS.io and the “normal” HA? Or are the different names purely referring to their methods of installation?

Then you need HASSBian

Basically, yes.

hass.io is a docker implementation running on top of ResinOS. You do not have ‘real’ access to the underlying OS, and there are no tools available within ResinOS to do normal ‘Linux-y’ things. It is being marketed more as an “appliance” rather than a single piece of software.
